Mudança is a 2021 film by Welket Bungué.
Synopsis: “Essential is generating life, discourse, understanding and celebrating humanity. In times of widespread pandemic, giving rise to questions around the preservation of democracy, the integrity of public health and our own notions of individuality, we find ourselves drawn into a process of change. In this encounter between an artist and a member of parliament, the essence of their trades is questioned, resonating an unexpected paradigm of imminent revolution. ‘Mudança’ will have as its visual proposal the plasticity of the interpreted text, and of the digital image (paintings by the artist Nú Barreto) projected onto the performers. The music (by Mû Mbana) and the textual content will appeal to the dreamlike drama of a territory conceived from insular sensations, brought about by references to the people of the Bijagó archipelago in Guinea-Bissau Mudança is part of the Essenciais project. Two socially distanced people meet somewhere, real or virtual, and call it a stage. One is a “cultural professional”, the other an “essential worker”. What do they have to say to each other? How do they move (on stage, in the city)? What is essential about what they do?”
