“Congolese Jacques Dubois has lived in Portugal since childhood. In Alfama, where he lives, he takes a critical look at the city and its occupants”.
This series of videos is the result of the research projects AFRO-PORT Afrodescendants in Portugal and Memorialist Discourses and the Making of History with the aim of recording oral memories about the history of colonialism and highlighting their importance in African and Portuguese history. The project brings together testimonies from Africans about Portugal before and after the Revolution of April 25, 1975. Issues such as reception, housing, work, residence and racism are addressed.
